When senior aviation major Kristena Cook reflects on her daily life, a 100-mile commute each way from her Louisville home to class at Eastern Kentucky University while juggling her children, education and career amid constant exhaustion, she can only be grateful.

EKU Aviation Celebrates Spring 2018 Grads

Friday, May 11, was a special day for EKU Aviation seniors. Twenty-one EKU Aviation graduating seniors joined a college-wide ceremony to receive their diploma covers and take their place among Eastern Kentucky University's newest alumni.

Luke Easley, from the EKU Class of 2016, always wanted to be a pilot. As a kid, he mapped out major cities on his family’s Stamping Ground, Kentucky, farm. Countless hours were spent soaring his toy jetliners over a pretend map of the world that spanned several acres.

Haning Named 2018 AET Distinguished Senior

Ms. Haley Jo Haning has been named the 2018 Distinguished Senior for EKU's Department of Applied Engineering and Technology. She will be honored during a presentation in April at the Applied Engineering and Technology College to Careers Conference.

The student is selected based on superior academic achievement, excellent leadership, citizenship, character and services to EKU.

Since Horace Hunter was 5 years old, he has dreamed of taking off one day as a pilot. On Dec. 15, 2017, he landed at his graduation with a bachelor’s degree in aviation, professional flight with a minor in aerospace management.

Aerospace Management Students Selected for SEC-AAAE/SAMA Scholarships

For the second consecutive year, three EKU Aviation students were selected as recipients of the Southeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives/Southeastern Airport Manager’s Association (SEC-AAAE/SAMA) Scholarship, an award valued at $2,000 per student.
