The Ninety-Nines logo

The Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots offers Scholarship Opportunities for aviation students. Scholarship applications for 2015 for their robust aviation program will be available late summer 2014. Many of their scholarship opportunities will be of interest to students enrolled in the EKU Aviation program.  Please consider letting the 99s help you achieve your aviation dreams.

The Karen Johnson Solo Scholarship.  The Ninety-Nines will award a $3,000 Karen Johnson Solo Scholarship to provide a young woman (age 16-20 at any time during the 2014 calendar year) with financial support for flight training through her first solo and beyond. The scholarship will be awarded during the WomenVenture activities at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh on July 30, 2014.   Funds for the scholarship were provided by the 99s with support from a 2013 Lightspeed Aviation Foundation grant.  Applications will be accepted through July 10, 2014.   Proof of financial need and financial information is not required.  Applications should be submitted by July 10, 2014 through the EAA web site at

99s Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship Fund   The Ninety-Nines Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship Fund (AEMSF) has just awarded 17 “Fly Now” Scholarships to women who want to learn to fly. Applications for the 2014 Fly Now fall scholarships will be available in July 2014. Applicants will need to join the 99s as an Associate (student) member, to submit an application.

In addition to the Fly Now Scholarships, the AEMSF offers fully paid scholarship to complete an additional pilot certificate or rating or pilot training course, including instrument, multi-engine, commercial, ATP, flight instructor, emergency maneuver training and all kinds of type ratings.  What is unique about these scholarships is that they cover the full cost of the training.  Most of the scholarships in this group require prior membership in the 99s.  Additional information about these scholarships can be found at the Nine-Nines website.  The Fund also offers scholarships for college students majoring in aviation-related fields.
