Community Invited to Madison Airport Open House and Barbeque
RICHMOND, Ky. – The Madison County Airport Board and Eastern Kentucky University, which serves as the fixed base operator (FBO) for the Madison Airport, will host an open house and community barbeque on Saturday, April 21, at the airport from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event, free and open to the public, will feature information about EKU’s aviation program and non-university flight training schools. Food will be served from noon to 2 p.m.
Local EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) members will also offer free “Young Eagles” flights to individuals between the ages of 8 and 17, beginning at 10 a.m.
EKU assumed management of the Madison Airport in August 2011. Eastern alumnus Jason Bonham serves as airport manager. He is a former EKU aviation program instructor and corporate pilot.
“We are excited to have members of the community see what’s been going at their local airport,” Bonham said.
The Madison Airport is located at 124 Airport Road. For more information, contact Bonham at 859-622-3913 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
